The 3 cylinder FZ09 MT09 can turn faster lap times with a slipper clutch. The clutch reduces engine braking to provide a smoother corner entry, and eliminates wheel hop during aggressive down shifts.

This clutch is ready to install with plates and springs, so there is no need to source any other components.

22503 Antihopping clutch kit MT-09 - mounting instructions

This clutch should be installed by an experienced Yamaha service center, or experienced mechanic.

1. Read these instructions with photos befor you start. Check that the kit includes all parts .
2. Remove the old clutch ( according to Yamaha workshop manual ), clean the threads on the shaft of old glue perfectly. Clean the threads with brake cleaner.
3. Make sure the original spacer under clutch drum is in it´s position ( pic.a).
4. Check, if the steel balls are in their pockets. Use one or two clutch springs and upper retainers to pre-mount both parts of clutch drum together. Position of both drums´s parts to be as delivered.
5. Install the premounted clutch to gearbox shaft ( pic.b).
6. The kit includes small parts for mounting. They are packed in set in position how to install them. Install the washer as first (pic.c), then the spider spring (pic.d) and the nut (pic.e ). Nut torque moment 110 Nm, use glue Loctite No. 620 (RED) to secure ( pic.g ). Lock the nut also into shaft ( pic.g )
7. Remove the springs with caps .
8. Install clutch plates and springs. This clutch is designed for original plates and springs. We suggest installing a full width friction plate first, then a steel, then the narrow friction plate with judder springs, the remaining clutch plates as on the standard clutch (pic.h).
9. Mount the pressure plate with pull-rod. Install clutch springs with kit retainers and M5x 25mm kit bolts ( torque 8 Nm ) (pic.i,j ).
10. Check the clearance between pressure plate and clutch hub via the small holes in the pressure plates. The correct clearance is about 1,0 mm, minimal clearance is 0.5mm. When the clutch plates wear to this point, install new friction plates.

12. Install clutch cover according Yamaha workshop manual ( pic. k ) , adjust clutch cable.
